Special Kansai Event to Aid the 3.11 Restoration
3.11 From KANSAI ~ We've Just Begun ~
Share Your Heart With The Puzzle Project!
When hard times occur people often experience negative feelings and cry,
complain, and sometimes shut their emotions off. Why not join the “Puzzle
Project” as a way of expressing and sharing your feelings with others?
Connecting with other participants will help bring forward positive
experiences and feelings and banish loneliness.
What is the "Puzzle Project"?
Participants will create artwork on individual puzzle pieces (20cmX30cm)
made from cardboard. Once finished, the individual pieces will be put
together to form one final puzzle. Our concept is "Fusion; exceeding the
boundaries of nation, religion, and race with art". We started in Osaka,
Japan in 2006, and later expanded to London, England, Toronto, Canada, New
York, USA, and returned to Osaka International Airport in 2011.
The purpose of this 2012 edition is to cheer up everyone still suffering
from the devastating 3.11 tsunami and earthquake. We will be exhibiting the
final puzzle at MI Gallery in Osaka from March 27- April 13, 2012. We expect this
to be our largest exhibit ever, with over 1000 pieces in the final puzzle.
We will be collaborating with The Tono City Disaster Relief Network called
"TONO-MAGOKORO net" for this important event.
We don't know what the final puzzle will look like until all the individual
pieces are put together! Each piece will be supported by the surrounding
pieces, much like our hearts at this event! We’ve just begun, so let’s
share our hearts together !
The concept of the project: FUSION
This project will involve many different artists independently creating artwork on puzzle piece shaped canvases. All pieces will finally be connected and assembled creating one large puzzle. The artists will not know what each other are creating, and no one will know what the final creation will be until it is assembled.
The theme of the project:
EXCEEDING THE BOUNDARY OF NATION, RELIGION AND RACE WITH ART: IT WILL BE CONNECTED!
The world is a place where things connect and interconnect; they affect each other regardless of direct relations. This project will present a world showing how these interconnections and relations represent the order and disorder of existence. While politicians and big business may care little for the common people, we strongly believe that art will be able to expand the importance and feasibility of reconciliation; we don’t need further opposition and separation.
